Chester

My first impression of Chester was not positive. Too many people, too much traffic, heavy backpack, Tourist info far from train station. But it grew on me. For one thing it has walls that encircle the inner city, and one can walk on them getting off and on any place you want. There are numerous half-timbered buildings from the Tudor era. Chester Cathedral is very impressive and there is a Romanesque church,St. John's there too. Chester also has a canal running through it, the Shropshire Union Canal. I walked the walls many times. And I walked for miles along the Shropshire Union Canal. My bed and breakfast, Lavender Lodge, was very comfortable and the owners very friendly. Today I leave for London to meet Mark. I may not have wireless for a while.
